Exploring Akagera National Park was a journey into Rwanda’s lesser-known gem. This park, with its diverse landscapes of savannahs, wetlands, and lakes, offered a rich wildlife experience. Our guide expertly navigated through the park, pointing out various animals along the way.
Hippos and crocodiles dominated the waters, while elephants and buffaloes roamed the grasslands. One highlight was spotting a herd of giraffes elegantly moving through the acacia trees. Birdwatching in Akagera was exceptional, with vibrant species like the African fish eagle and the rare shoebill.
A boat ride on Lake Ihema was the perfect way to end the day, offering close encounters with hippos and a serene view of the park’s beauty. Akagera’s blend of tranquility and adventure made it a memorable part of our Rwandan safari.
